¿Cómo hablar de la hora en inglés?

– Ejemplos y Frases útiles en inglés (PDF) –

_

  1. What’s the time?
  2. What time is it?

Algunas expresiones útiles para preguntar el tiempo (asking the time):

  • What time is it? / What’s the time? → ¿Qué hora es ?
  • Have you got the right time? → ¿Tienes la hora exacta?
  • Could you tell me what time it is? → ¿Me puede decir qué hora es?
  • What time are you leaving? → ¿A que hora te vas
  • What time do you go to work? → ¿A qué hora vas a trabajar?
  • What time do you want to get up? → ¿A qué hora quieres despertar?
  • Are you on time? → ¿Estás a tiempo?

DAR TIEMPO

Para dar las horas «completas», a menudo agregamos o’clock (= of the clock, al reloj).

  • It’s twelve o’clock. → Es mediodía.
  • It’s one o’clock.

  • It’s three o’clock → Son las 3 en punto
  • It’s five past three → Son las 3:05 a.m.
  • It’s ten past three → Son las 3:10 a.m.
  • It’s a quarter past three → Son las tres y cuarto
  • It’s half past three → Son las tres y media
  • It’s a quarter to four → Son las cuatro menos cuarto
  • It’s ten to four → Son de 4 a 10

  • It’s two minutes to ten. → Faltan dos minutos para las 10:00.

Para horarios, es bastante simple:

  • The bank close at 5:30. → El banco cierra a las 5:30.
  • My plane leaves at 4:22. → Mi avión sale a las 4:22.

Unos pocos ejemplos más:

  • It’s eleven o’clock. → Son las once en punto.
  • It’s ten past eleven. → Son las once y diez.
  • It’s a quarter past eleven. → Son las once y cuarto.
  • It’s half past eleven. → Son las 11:30 de la mañana.
  • It’s twenty to twelve. → Son las doce menos veinte.
  • It’s a quarter to twelve. → Son las 12 menos cuarto.
  • It’s five to twelve. → Faltan cinco minutos para las 12:00.
  • It’s time for lunch.

(post meridiem).

  • It’s 2 a.m. → Son las 2:00 de la mañana.
  • It’s 2 p.m.
